loss reverence and longing

Currently working towards finishing installation piece for ‘loss reverence and longing’ at Wagga Wagga City Gallery.  This exhibition is part of the centenary commemorations of
the ANZAC story.  My contribution is called ‘absence’ and is four x 4 metre length panels
of gauze field bandage with cigarette cards sandwiched between the layers and stitched. The sculpture sits in front of the panels.

torn between

I haven’t been very good at keeping up-to-date on my blog but i have been plugging away in the studio.  Over the next few days I will post some of the results below are two figures ready for the Roma regional Gallery exhibition.

2nd drawing in progress

I thought I had three images to upload of this drawing in three different stages but I could only find the first and third this morning – obviously in haste I have closed photoshop before saving the image 😦

Never mind below are two stages of the drawing (still in progress) charcoal, white and black gesso and mono print

in progress – first stage

Currently working towards completing a series of large drawings to be exhibited with sculptures at
Roma Regional Gallery.  Having cleared a little space in the studio by packing up the sculptures going to
Gold Coast International Ceramic Award I could hang the first piece of paper to be worked on.

Size approx.  1.5 metres h x 1.2 metres w – stage one charcoal, gesso, watercolour and china graph

What I really want to do is get a few of these up on the wall before attempting to finish – so that they are all playing into each other.

sometimes resolving the piece takes time and sometimes things fall into place – I think she is finished (for now) but she has had quite a few additions and subtractions along the way.

burdenwithcare has had two firings and a final wax finish – still thinking about her headress  whether to stick with the jute or go with something a bit more decorative – perhaps leather but I also have a huge range of vintage linen threads which could also work.   burdenwithcare_detail2

make over

My favourite pastime at the moment appears to be ‘make over’.  I have been working over St. Sebastion’s Wife for a few days now and finally I think the work maybe finished. I have posted the original and the ‘make over’.The new piece has several gel medium prints on silk from photos of my caryatids.

mother courage final (detail)

I have been trying to finish ‘mothercourage’ for entry into a sculpture prize which closes on thursday.  I have all but finished the work – fired it on saturday and started colouring sunday night. I finished colouring and waxing today.  I have one goodish detail photo but a photo of the whole piece is eluding me.  I think I will have to try again tomorrow. mother courage
