Life drawing sessions started again this morning after nearly 2 months away. We had a new model and I found it very tough going – nothing seemed to be working for me. Maybe one drawing is publishable but the rest is better left in the round file!

The choices you make in your work: the colors, where they are blocked in, and the attenuation of the features all add up to an intense composition. But the ambivalent expression on the model’s face really makes this one engaging – challenging the viewer to decipher her thoughts.
Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful and interesting comment – I seem to recall on the day I was nearing the end of my patience with myself and it was a brief ‘in the zone’ moment that produced this image.
