It is stronger and darker (emotionally as well as tonally), quite different from before. I like it very much, but I did like the more delicate version as well. Melancholic can be good!
Appreciate your comments Anna – yes very different – and agree absolutely, melancholic can be good – I am considering trying again on the original drawing – this one was on acrylic/oil paper and not watercolour paper – so I was also struggling a bit with the substrate – but all interesting and all part of the moving forward/sideways. And I am reminded of a quote from Samuel Beckett that I recently read – ‘No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.’ regards veronica
