when this vessel went into the fire I was less than happy with the form – but now that she has been spruced up a bit – a brightening with some acrylic paint, some papermache added to her headpiece and the final sealing of sections with encaustic … she started to speak to me youspeak/ilisten(sometimes) youspeak_ilisten2 youspeak_ilisten4 handbuilt terracotta – slip, underglaze, stained, acrylic, papermache and encustic

chameleonrecruits – before the fire

Nearly 2 months since I have posted something – we have been very busy helping our eldest twin prepare for her latest adventure – 12 months volunteering in North Yorkshire UK.  Apparently it started to snow yesterday – her first experience of the white, wet stuff !!!  I have not entirely neglected the studio and this morning 3 new ceramic sculptures went into the kiln.  Sneak peak of one of them before firing …these are still from the sirens, satyrs, sinners and saints series

new siren – out of the fire

Yesterday I took several of these ladies out of the fire – slowly applying the finishing touches. Each figure is approx 60 cm high and they are made with white clay –  once fired – under glazed and  stains, acrylic painting with vintage fabrics.  I have yet to apply some sort of matt finish.

trying to dream a resolution

I have been really struggling with this drawing for the last few days – trying to dream a resolution.
And like many of my drawings it began in a completely different place – and has undergone lots of transitions.
As a mother of twins the toll on the body is immense – living change.  It is finally close to being finished (I think).
