don’t look away came out of the kiln this morning – this is the final siren for my show in October at Rosebed Street Gallery in Eudlo. She has a patched and embroidered vintage bodice, ceramic, sculpture, underglaze and stains 60 x 30 x 30 cm approx .

The poignancy and attitude of this piece I find extremely touching. There is this adorable woman with a beautiful profile and yet on closer examination she seems to be tormented and bleeding… somehow resigned to live her life of sadness without complaint! A truly admirable piece Ronnie! I love it!
She’s a beauty!
Elephant
She is breathtaking and regal.
So much presence!
thanks Karen
Thanks 🙂
Thanks Jacquie – really pleased to hear that you like her 🙂
Allkinds of wonderful Ronniw!! I love her elegant Char-lady cap/bonnet/head wrap and every other detail as well. She looks as if she is about to speak.
At first I saw a wistful expression and then it seemed to be that it is more assessing. I like her very much. You don’t look away quickly from this face.
Thanks Claudia I am really pleased that she has caught your attention.
She is beautiful – something so poignant in that pose. The fabrics add delicacy to the solidity of the ceramic.
thanks Jules appreciate the comment – there is a stillness (and solidity) about clay that I find it difficult to capture that kind of fleeting expression – so it is rewarding that you think she is about to speak – still a long way to go 🙂
thanks Anna – just saw you have been travelling – welcome back 🙂
Thanks Veronica – just back, and just about to go away again, camping in the Flinders this time, so I hope to get lots of inspiration, but won’t be keeping up with blogging too well!
Her expressively long neck reminds me of Modigliani, Parmigianino, and the Queen Nefertiti in Berlin. The antique bodice reinforces the fragility of the clay. I hope your sirens are a success for you in your latest exhibition.
Such august company – from the antiquities, through mannerism and into modernism – the more things change the more they stay the same! Thanks for your comment – cheers
She’s magnificent
thanks 🙂
