do you really want to play house?

This is the third large drawing in the series for Roma Regional Gallery – I have many progress shots which I may post later – image below a composite of the three drawings together.

Size is approx. 150 cm x 100 cm charcoal, gesso, acrylic

in progress – first stage

Currently working towards completing a series of large drawings to be exhibited with sculptures at
Roma Regional Gallery.  Having cleared a little space in the studio by packing up the sculptures going to
Gold Coast International Ceramic Award I could hang the first piece of paper to be worked on.

Size approx.  1.5 metres h x 1.2 metres w – stage one charcoal, gesso, watercolour and china graph

What I really want to do is get a few of these up on the wall before attempting to finish – so that they are all playing into each other.

a new chameleonrecruit

I am currently working on six new chameleonrecruits from the sirens saints and sinners series hopefully to get exhibited as a one group.  Here is the first of the new recruits – slightly different process in that a decorative slip was applied at quite a wet stage of the building process and where it is quite thick it has started to peel and flake – I couldn’t have asked for a better result.  This piece was coloured bisque fired, stained and then fired again.  The final finish is hot wax allowed to partially seal but add yet another layer of decay. size approx. 40 cm x 40 cm x 30 cm

out on a limb

I must admit I had been feeling a little  raw and exposed – out on a limb – but fantastic news this afternoon I have sold a substantial number of works from my show – sheer bliss – the feeling is fantastic.  I had purchased a swag of new paper on thursday and had been thinking maybe I was being a bit extravagant but all good now.  Here is another drawing from life drawing on thursday that I have coloured up a bit with watercolour pencils. A4 strathmore with  biro and watercolour pencils. out-on-a-limb

life drawing april 18

I love drawing with a biro and sometimes I pull them at life drawing sessions here is one image from thursday I did some others but I want to add a bit of colour to them first – this is an A4 strathmore visual journal 20 min pose.

maybe this time

We have been very busy here on the sunny coast with family visiting from Melbourne; and tidying up last minute things for both my exhibition and David’s exhibition  opening in the next few weeks.

maybe this time has had quite a few iterations however the new head was added after life drawing on thursday – the sad part is that the added head has lost something when it has been stuck down – the pastel has dropped in tone and gone a bit muddy – but maybe this time it will be finished 🙂
